How to get free traffic

What can be more fun than free traffic to your website or project?

Here you are a variety of sources for free traffic:

- Post to targeted forums (don´t do it too obviously, get involved in the topic or discussion first!) and use a signature, if allowed to point to your website.

- Free online newspaper/ezine ads. There are many services that offer free classifieds, but often it is not to easy to post an ad to the "employment" section.
Be creative here, use a different section. Tip: go to the "employment offers" section and look for people offering home based businesses. If it´s easy to do, drop them a mail with your signature in the footer, asking this person about how their business is working out and establish a contact maybe for a lifetime.

-Instant Buzz : This tool from Mike Filesaime is just great! Download a little Browser extension for your brower and be able to show your ads in other IB user´s browsers. What a great invention!!

- Articles: Write an article describing or reviewing your product or service and submit it to article directories. This way you can achieve 2 great effects: 1.: Big directories like www.ezinearticles.com have a very high pagerank in google, which means your article, once approved perform very well in the google search for your keyword, which then gives you free traffic to your article which is linked to your website. 2.: By using embedded links in your article content (i.e. your keyword which is linking to your website) your website itself will gain a higher ranking in google because the position of websites is mainly a matter of how many websites out there link to that page!

- Another trick: Find a free classified service where you pretend to sell something (do NOT use ebay for this!) expensive for a very low price (i.e. a laptop for 100 $) and offer a simple way for people to contact you via email. You will be getting an enormous amount of request if the item is still for sale, and everytime you will say: "sorry, it´s taken" in an email with..of course your signature ;-)

- And very special one only few people know: Watch out for "beta tests" or "prelaunches". That means here are places where the next "big one" might arise.
This is attractive for you in 2 ways:

1- If you can enroll for free, do so! Then do a bit of promotion for this and collect leads. Build a relationship with them and introduce them to your existing program later.

2- Testimonials. This first hit me, when my contact in L.A., Shariq, a google adwords mentor asked me to write a testimonial for his website after he had given me some advice. In exchange, he would place a link to my website at the footer of that testimonial.

Get what I mean? This is a free link and if he´s a eager person with a lot of readers, the more people get to see my link. That´s free advertising for me! Great huh?

So, whenever you buy an ebook or enroll in a business, try to contact the admin if you can leave your testimonial. (Who cares if you were satisfied? It´s a free link!)

Do not use Paidmailers, Safelists, and Mailexchange when you are new to online marketing! Those places are domitated by professionals, you will be the Nemo in shark pool. You will only lose focus when joining those programs because you will get flooded with mostly rediculous and irrealistic offers! You will not convince anybody there, trust me. To get a "pro" into your boat, it requires a lot of experience!
